To spotlight the fairy, I started out with one of my Snow Flurries Perfect Blend Slimline card front panels and the center from the Slimline Oval Spotlight Stencil. I centered the oval over the panel and held it in place with magnets. This way I could move them around as I blended clouds using the VSD Slimline Clouds Stencil with Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide ink.
Once I finished with these clouds, I moved on to the yellow clouds. This time I used the outside part of the spotlight oval stencil. Before adding the clouds, I lightly blended Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink inside the oval stencil. Then I lined up the cloud stencil with the purple clouds I already blended. I used Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink to make these clouds, lining up the cloud stencil each time I moved down the oval.
To make my dancing fairy, I stamped the girl silhouette using my Misti Stamp platform and Color Hive Clear Glue Pad on a piece of white cardstock and embossed it with Speckled Egg embossing glaze. I knew I wanted the wings to sparkle so I mixed 1 part Holographic Moon Dust Sugar Sparkle with 2 parts clear embossing powder. Next I aligned the wing stamps around the girl on my Misti and stamped with my clear glue pad. I embossed them with the glitter embossing powder I mixed up and fussy cut the whole fairy out. I stamped the sentiment from the set in the bottom right corner with my Color Hive reMARKable Eclipse Black ink. Then I trimmed down the cloud panel and layered it on a piece of Eclipse Black Cardstock and finally on a white card base. {Layers: cloud- 8 1/4" x 3 3/4", Eclipse Black-8 3/8" x 3 7/8", white card base-8 1/2" x 8" scored at 4"}
To finish off my fairy, I rolled her wings a little with my finger to make it 3D and popped her up on foam tape. Then I scattered some dew drops. I hope this inspires you to try out this spotlight technique and to try mixing some of your Sugar Sparkle with clear embossing powder to have another way to add glitter to your projects. Thanks for stopping by!
