Day three with The Rabbit Hole Designs Caffeinated Meerkat!!!

Happy Wednesday!!!! How could you not love this grumpy meerkat that was not ready for that sunrise. Good thing he has his coffee!! Today I am sharing the new Caffeinated Meerkat stamp set and coordinating die from The Rabbit Hole Designs!!

**Affiliate links are used throughout this post at no additional cost to you. This allows me to keep bringing you content. Thank you all for your support! **

To make the card, I loosely watercolored the background for the desert sunrise using Distress inks. I started from the bottom to the top using Walnut Stain, Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade, and Crackling Campfire. Once it dried, I cut down the panel and used an oval die from my stash to make the shaker window. Before gluing the acetate to the top panel for the shaker element, I lined it up on my brown card base so I could glue the inside oval down in the right place. Then I added the acetate and popped it up on crystal clear foam tape. I added the shaker pieces, lined up the panel and adhered it to the base.

Next, I colored the caffeinated meerkat using Copic markers and die cut it with the coordinating Caffeinated Meerkat die
Meerkat: E40, E41, E42, E43, E44, E47, R30, R22 and {E49 for the nose}
Cup: BG70, BG72, BG75, BG78

To finish the card, I heat embossed the sentiment from the Perfectly Blended stamp set and adhered it along with the meerkat to the card. For a little bling, I glued a few of the shaker elements to the outside of the card.

Release day with Butterfly Kisses The Rabbit Hole Designs!

Happy Monday! You know what today is.....The Rabbit Hole Designs June release day! Some really awesome new products for you to check out!!! Today I am sharing the new Butterfly Kiss stamp set illustrated by Tatsiana Zayats! How Sweet is this set?????

**Affiliate links are used throughout this post at no additional cost to you. This allows me to keep bringing you content. Thank you all for your support! **

To make this card, I stenciled the Back Alley stencil on a panel of white cardstock. Next, I cut some thin strips of yellow, pink,  and green cardstock and adhered them to the panel. Then, I cut a circle out of that panel for a window. I stenciled the Amanda Stencil on another piece of white cardstock and lined it up under the front panel so I could see the leaves through the window. I took the sentiment from the Butterfly Kiss stamp set and lined it up through the window on the leaf background. Then, using my misty, I stamped the sentiment so it would be exactly where I wanted it to be when the card was all assembled.

Next, I stamped the bunny, a few butterflies and a couple of flowers from the Butterfly Kiss stamp set. I colored them with my copics and die cut them using the Butterfly Kiss die set. I arranged them on my front card panel how I wanted them and glued them on. Then, I popped up the front panel on the leaf panel using the Double Thick Crystal Clear foam tape. Finally, to finish the card I adhered it to a white card base.  Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoy hopping along the other stops!!!

Love a Hero Using Stencils & Ink Smooshing for Camo Backgrounds

Happy Wednesday! I am sharing two different ways to make a camouflage background on note cards for our heroes. I really loved making these 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" note cards. The two techniques I would like to share are ink smooshing and using a stencil. Sometimes crafters can be intimidated with ink smooshing so I am so excited that Maker Forte has the Layering Camouflage Stencil as I absolutely love the pattern it makes for the background. I used the Maker Forte Love a Hero stamp set, Maker Forte layered Camouflage Stencil, and three distress inks: Gathered Twigs, Antique Linen, and Rustic Wilderness.

**Affiliate links are used throughout this post at no additional cost to you. This allows me to keep bringing you content. Thank you all for your support! **

I would like to share the stenciled background first. This stencil is so user friendly and it produces an amazing background.

To begin the background, I took a piece of Ultra White cardstock and laid the stencil on top that has step 1 and Step 2 on it. Then I blended Rustic Wilderness through it.

As you can see in the picture, the stencil has the directions on it so you can layer these stencils with ease! Next, I blended Gathered twigs through the stencil that has "step 3" in the top corner. I originally only wanted to use the two colors. After I finished step 3, I randomly blended Gathered Twigs through the "Step 4" stencil and then Rustic Wilderness in the other areas.

When I finished, I felt there was too much white space. This is probably why step one is to lay down an initial color which I had skipped because I had wanted some white space. To fix that, I blended some Antique Linen over the whole thing.

This background was put to the side so I could start on the ink smooshing backgrounds. I pulled out a piece of watercolor paper and Rustic Wilderness distress ink. I smooshed the ink on the mat and sprayed it lightly with water. Next, I lightly tapped the cardstock on the wet ink. I lifted it straight up and tapped a different part in the ink. Next is the most important part of ink smooshing. When you want to layer wet distress ink, you must dry it before moving on to the next color or they will all be brown mush. So, I heat set the green ink with my heat tool until it was dry. I suggest heating the front and back of the cardstock with the heat tool, it makes a difference in regards to pooling and blotches.

Once dry, I did the same thing with the Gathered Twigs distress ink.

When my backgrounds were all dry, I cut the panels down to 4 3/8" x 3 1/8". Then, I ran my antistatic bag over my panels and using Color Hive Clear embossing ink, I heat embossed the image from the Love a Hero stamp set with black embossing powder on each panel. Next, I layered these panels on 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" Eclipse Black cardstock panels. I added foam tape to the back, then adhered it to my Ultra white card panels that I had cut to 4 3/4" x 7" and scored in half at 3 1/2". To finish the cards, I stamped sentiments from the Love a Hero stamp set on strips of Ultra White cardstock using Color Hive Eclipse Black ink. Then, layered them on strips of Eclipse Black cardstock and added foam to adhere them to the cards.

I really hope you like these cards and are inspired to make cards for the heroes in your life. This set is great for many different branches of the military and you could use different color combos that relate to the branch you are making the cards for.

Snail Mail with Some Bling!

Hello! Today's card features Snail Mail from The Rabbit Hole Designs latest release. I love this cute little snail and wanted a way to easily jazz up this image.

**Affiliate links are used throughout this post at no additional cost to you. This allows me to keep bringing you content. Thank you all for your support! **

To make this card, I stamped the snail from Snail Mail on white cardstock. I covered it with a mask (image stamped on paper, cut out and placed the image) and then layered a long post it note over it where I wanted the skyline and grass to meet. I blended Mowed Grass distress ink over the exposed bottom of the cardstock. Next I flipped the post it note to expose the top of the cardstock and blended Tumbled Glass distress ink over the top. Once I removed the post it note, I had my background!

I colored in the snail with Copics and decided I was not crazy about how I colored the shell. So I stamped the image on another piece of cardstock and colored the shell with new colors. I fussy cut the shell out and popped it up on the original snail on my panel. Then I blinged it out using some sequins I had in my stash. I really loved this sentiment from the Sassy Sentiments stamp set and thought it fit perfect with this card so I stamped it directly on the card. I put foam tape on the back of the snail panel and added it to a card base I had prepared for it. I hope you like it!

Music is life {splitting sentiments}

Hello everyone! I would like to share a card I made using the May Hedgehog Hollow Box. I wanted to show you how I split this sentiment so I could place it on two separate parts of the card front. I also wanted to remind you that you can use Blank Canvas toner sheets to foil your background paper like I did on this card.

**Affiliate links are used throughout this post at no additional cost to you. This allows me to keep bringing you content. Thank you all for your support! **

To start this card, I cut a piece of Blank Canvas toner sheet to 4" x 5 1/4" and placed a piece of Red Static deco foil shiny side up over the toner sheet and ran it through my Minc machine. Then, I glued that to an A2 side fold card base. Next I started stamping the ultra white card panel with my music heart beat stamp from the "Music Speaks" set in the box. I used a red ink from my stash to stamp one time in the center of the cardstock. Then, I cleaned it off and stamped it two times in grey, above and below the red image.

To split the sentiment, it is a good idea to have some removable purple tape on hand. I lined up the sentiment over the top grey heartbeat and closed the lid for my Misti to pick it up. Then, I put purple tape over bottom half of the sentiment to mask it and inked it with Eclipse Black ink.

It is REALLY important to remember to remove that purple tape before stamping the sentiment. I have ruined a few cards in the past because I forgot. I removed the tape and stamped it over the top grey image. Then, I cleaned my stamp real well, lined it up on the bottom grey image and closed the lid to attach the stamp to my Misti.

This is how it looks lined up over the grey image on the bottom.

To finish the card, I cut down the panel to 3 3/8" x 4 5/8" and layered it on a piece of 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" Black Eclipse cardstock. Finally, I added foam tape to the back and adhered it to the Red foiled panel. This is a fairly easy card to make and it is a nice way to add foil to a card. I also really like that I do not have to cut the stamp to get this look.

I really hope you like the card and would love to see you try out splitting sentiments and using foil as your background!

Foiling Stamped Images with Music Feeds Your Soul

Hi there! I would like to share with you how I made this card by foiling the stamped images on the background. I love the music theme in the Hedgehog Hollow May subscription box! So many beautiful images and sentiments. It was so hard to decide which to use first. I really love the Lapis Watercolor Deco foil and wanted to use it on this card but everything I used for this card was a stamp so I was not sure how to incorporate the foil. I looked into how to go about stamping with foil and this is what I came up with from what I found. I was really happy with the results. I do have a video at the end to show the process of making this card.

**Affiliate links are used throughout this post at no additional cost to you. This allows me to keep bringing you content. Thank you all for your support! **

I started out by getting out my Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo, a makeup blender and a small bin with soapy water in it. Then, I lined up all of the instrument stamps on a block and I began dabbing the transfer gel over my stamps using the makeup blender.

Once I had the gel on the stamps, I stamped it down on a piece of Eclipse Black cardstock. I was careful to lift it straight up so the images didn't smear and held down the cardstock as it is a little sticky when removing the stamps. This is not going to show all of the detail once foiled and will look a little distress when I am done, but the end result was exactly what I wanted for this card.

Once I finished stamping the images, I immediately placed the block with stamps into the bin with soapy water. I did not want the gel to dry on my stamps or it would have ruined them. I placed my panel to the side for about an hour to wait for the gel to dry. It will be clear instead of white when it is dry. While I waited, I cleaned my stamps by rubbing a little dawn soap and water over the stamps on the block with a toothbrush. Then I rinsed them and checked to make sure they did not have any stickiness from the gel left on them.

Next, I embossed the sentiment "Music feeds the soul" on Black Eclipse cardstock with gold embossing powder and Color Hive Clear embossing ink. I trimmed the sentiment in half because I plan to split it up on the card. Then, using my Misti stamp tool, I stamped the big image from the Chin up Buttercup set on Eclipse Black cardstock with Color Hive Clear embossing ink. I used my Perfect First Impression Smoosher Tool to help get a better image and use less pressure while stamping. Next, I brushed Neptune Kaleidoscope powder over the image using the Rose Gold Dual Tip Powder Brush. I cleaned off the excess with the Maker forte Rainbow Powder Polish & Clean Up Brush and set it with some hairspray so the powder wouldn't rub off.

Once my transfer gel was dry, I could foil it. I took a piece of Lapis Watercolor Deco Foil and placed it over the transfer gel shiny side up and dull side against the gel. Next, I ran it through my Minc machine that was warming up on number 3.

When I was done running it through my Minc, I carefully peeled the foil back to see if I needed to run it through again. It is easier to line the foil back up if it is still attached.

Now it is time to assemble the card. I trimmed down my panel to 4" x 5 1/4" and glued it to my Eclipse Black card base.

I layered the music clef panel to a piece of gold cardstock and added the sentiment that I had cut in half to either side of the clef. Finally, I put foam tape on the back and added it to my card base.

Hippo Botanical with a twist - TRHD

Hello! I am going to share a  different way to use the Hippo Botanical stamp set from The Rabbit Hole Design's new release. I just love the flower from this set and thought it looked really lovely with the new Amanda stencil. I may have an unhealthy obsession with foam tape. I need to pop everything up, so why not make the flower pop?

**Affiliate links are used throughout this post at no additional cost to you. This allows me to keep bringing you content. Thank you all for your support! **

I started out Blending Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn distress ink through the Amanda stencil. Then, I covered the whole panel with clear texture paste and put it to the side to dry.

Once that dried, I die cut it down to 4" x 5 1/4" and started with my flowers.

I stamped and fussy cut the hippo flower, the flower and the three lily pad leaves from the Hippo Botanical set. I colored the flowers in using R27, R37, R39, YR12, and YR07. I colored the leaves with YG00, YG05, and YG09.

Next, I assembled my card. I adhered the leaf panel to my card base and added a brown frame I had in my stash. Then, I added foam tape to the smaller flower adhering it to the bigger flower lining it up just to cover the hippo image. Next,  I added my leaves and my flower to the card. I stamped out a sentiment from Sassy Sentiments on a strip of white cardstock and layered it over a piece of patterned paper. To finish off with a little sparkle, I ran my clear Wink of Stella over the leaves. I hope you like it!

Thank you for stopping by!
