Easy Teacher Appreciation Card - using Maker Forte + GIVEAWAY!

Hi Crafty Friends! I would like to show you how to make this cute card for Teacher Appreciation week or any time you need a card for a teacher. I used the set, “Teach from the Heart”, a collaboration between Maker Forte and Hedgehog Hollow. I love that it has a nice selection of big and bold sentiments that can be used on a card with a pretty patterned paper or one with a background you make like I am going to show you here. See below for the giveaway information.

To make this card I needed to cut the pencil off of the stamp that says, “Only the brave teach.” so I could use the pencil separately. I didn't use that sentiment for this card because I needed something a little bigger. I used Ranger Archival ink on watercolor paper because I wanted to use my zig watercolor pens and I needed something that would not be affected by water.

To start, randomly stamped the pencil image all over the background making sure to have plenty of images to color. I really wanted the background pretty full for this card. Next, I colored in the pencils with my Zig watercolor pens. I love the bold and bright colors of the watercolor pens. I did not want to shade with them as I wanted this to be a quick card that I could duplicate for multiple teachers. Because I wanted a variety of colors, I did not repeat any of them.

Zig colors used:
25, 27, 31, 32, 33, 40, 41, 50, 51, 53, 70, 80, 82, 83, 93

Once the ink was dry, I die cut the panel with the pencils so I would have a border around the edge. Then I embossed the sentiment on velum. I chose to emboss on velum so you could see all of the bright pencils through it. Before I stamped the sentiment, I used my anti-static bag so random embossing powder did not stick to my velum. I used Color Hive Clear embossing ink and black Wow embossing powder. I just love the colors and didn’t want to hide any of them. Next, I glued the velum to a black frame I had cut out. I added foam tape to the back of the panel with the pencils and attached that to the Ultra White 110 lb. card base. Then I glued the sentiment to the card making sure I lined it up nicely.

Finally, I added these really pretty Crown Jewel Gems using the Crafter's Magic Wand Rainbow Craft Picker. It is real easy to add gems using this tool. The color is a beautiful purplish blue color called Scottish Thistle. I love the added bling they gave the card.
